History
The History of Trondheim Free Church throughout 30 years: 1974-2004
Trondheim Free Church was established in January 1974 and celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2004. The church was started up by a group of 20 adults, the majority of which consisted of Free Church members from Mosvik and other places in Nord-Trøndelag County, along with some students from the Southern part of Norway who also had a Free Church background.
During the first years the church met in rented halls in Kjøpmannsgata, but in 1976 they settled in a building at 30. Sunnlandsvegen. The church managed to buy the building of a closed-down shop at this address, which then was reconstructed into a church. Between 1988 and 2002 the worship services of the church were held again in rented halls at the Christian High School of Tiller. The current church building was inaugurated on 28th April 2002.
The first leader of the church was Arnfinn Løyning. He worked from 1976 to 1982. Thomas Bjerkholt became the new leader in 1982, then in 1993 Bjørn K. Jellestad was appointed pastor #2. The latter two still function as pastors of the church.
Trondheim Free Church has had a steady growth throughout the years and counts 460 members altogether today.
Trondheim Free Church is the sister church of Lubov Christova Church in Nikolajev, Ukraine. We also support St. Thomas School in Gujarat, India. This school is operated by the Indian mission organization "Friends Missionary Prayer Band".
